# Species

A species is a class of plants or animals whose members have the same main characteristics and are able to breed with each other.

When exporting products between countries, species information MUST be declared to customs with their identifying codes and name. Items that are incorrectly declared or defined can have shipments refused at port.

\
Farms/Suppliers need to report an accurate stem count (by species) on a Commercial Invoice of what is being shipped (including bouquet recipes). Every product should be linked to a species and **it’s a defining primary characteristic of any product.**
